In lieu of my newsletter this week, I thought you might enjoy a Holiday Gift Guide, whether you’re shopping for someone you love or for a little something to help you make it through the holidays.

Personally, I LOVE to shop for the holidays online and I thought you might appreciate these suggestions for sensitives and creatives that you can have delivered right to your door. I know Hanukkuh has already passed for those of you who celebrate, but I hope you’ll find these ideas useful anyway, and I hope it will come in handy for those of you with an eye still toward Christmas shopping. Some of these items come from me, others are stocked at Amazon.com; you may find them elsewhere as well.

Happy Holidays!

With love,

Jenna

Great Books for Sensitive Souls

Survival GuideThe Sensitive Person’s Survival Guide: An Alternative Health Answer to Emotional Sensitivity & Depression
by Kyra Mesich, Psy.D.

Many sensitives have read The Highly Sensitive Person, but I ALSO highly recommend this powerful, short book by Kyra Mesich. This mini-book (110 pages) makes a more direct connection to the empathic and psychic abilities often displayed by sensitives. Dr. Mesich believes that “distorted” empathic ability is at the root of the “less desirable traits” of being highly sensitive, including feeling “easily hurt and overwhelmed, a prevalence of negative emotions, depression and anxiety, and stimulus overload.”

coverThe Highly Sensitive Person: How to Thrive When the World Overwhelms You by Elaine M. Aron, Ph. D.

An excellent book pioneering the concept that highly sensitive people (HSPs) are NORMAL and play a crucial role in our society. This is THE seminal book on high sensitivity; if you haven’t read it, please do. It really is required reading for anyone with highly sensitive wiring.

SoniaThe Psychic Pathway: A Workbook for Reawakening the Voice of Your Soul by Sonia Choquette

Sonia Choquette’s work on developing your intuition is grounded, practical, and fun. She offers great techniques and helpful information for learning to work in concert with your inner voice. This is a powerful look into making use of one of the greatest gifts of high sensitivity: keen intuition.

Great Books for Creatives & Creative Visionaries

Artist's WayThe Artist’s Way: A Spiritual Guide to Higher Creativity by Julia Cameron

I highly recommend this book to ANYONE seeking more clarity about their own lives and their own creative process (artistic or otherwise), whether they consider themselves to be an “artist” or not.

cover The Procrastinator’s Handbook: Mastering the Art of Doing It Now by Rita Emmett

A terrific little book that explains lots of little tricks to overcome procrastination.  An excellent read for creatives of the world.  Many of us procrastinate because we are perfectionistic, and this book offers great tips for working with that.

TribesTribes: We Need You to Lead Us by Seth Godin

A powerful, inspiring calling to step up and be the leader and visionary you are meant to be. Godin is practical and persuasive in his views.

birdbybirdBird by Bird by Anne Lamott

I love Anne Lamott’s style and advice about getting words on the page, “bird by bird.” Another great treatise on going after a project bit by bit rather than becoming overwhelmed by the entirety of it.

war of artThe War of Art
by Steven Pressfield

An inspiring book on overcoming Resistance, the arch enemy of creativity. One of my favorite sections covered examples of how, where, and when other writers write. Great permission to do it YOUR way, but to DO IT.

Great Products for Sensitives & Sensitive Creatives

necklaceGrounding & Protection Jewelry

I designed my Grounding & Protection jewelry to be attractive AND useful. This is a perfect gift to give yourself before you’re sitting across the table from Aunt Mabel when she starts throwing psychic darts at you, or maybe one to suggest to your non-HSP spouse who wants to get you something special this year.

When you invest in a Grounding & Protection necklace before December 31st, you’ll receive a matching pair of earrings as our gift to you ($35 value).

lavenderLavender Essential Oils

For sensitives who like scents, I particularly like Aura Cacia, though there are other wonderful brands. Lavender is very soothing and calming to frayed nerves, particularly when added to a bath, rubbed on your feet, or even misted onto your pillow.

maskSleep Mask and Other Travel Aids

For a traveling sensitive soul, a sleep mask is a must-have (along with ear plugs and even noise-cancelling headphones). There are many different guides of sleep masks; there are many variables to consider: the tightness and thickness of the strap, the material, the thickness of the padding, the light-blocking ability. I find that a soft scarf will do the trick in a pinch, but it’s also nice to have something I don’t have to wrestle with in the middle of the night.

becalmBe Calm Balls (Still Point Inducers)

A handy tool for a sensitive soul — like an instant reset button. The Be Calm Balls induce a “still point,” which allows you to switch from flight or fight mode to parasympathetic dominance quickly. Another life saver. Only 4 left in stock. We will no longer be carrying this product; available only while supplies last.

No Matter Where You Go, There You Are

December 7, 2010

One of my favorite movies as a teenager was The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension. In it, Buckaroo Banzai quotes Confucius, saying, “No matter where you go, there you are.” Isn’t that the truth? I noticed over the weekend that my “not enough” issues were coming up (part of my Life Lesson). [...]

And . . . It’s Almost Time For Mercury to Go Retrograde, Again

November 30, 2010

Yep, you read that right, it’s about time for Mercury to go retrograde again, starting December 9th. I find it to be extremely helpful to know when it’s coming up, because it makes a big difference in my energy levels and my forward momentum, or lack thereof. When Mercury goes retrograde, it can feel like [...]

10 Principles for Vibrant Living

November 23, 2010

I’ve been pondering a new set of “rules to live by.” I consistently err in not having enough FUN in my life. I work hard, focus on family, have a critical eye, strive always for more and better, and sometimes forget to enjoy the ride. Big mistake, particularly for someone with Venus as part of [...]
