Comments, Thoughts & Ideas
Second TeleGathering December 17, 2003
Following you will find a summary
of participants' comments, thoughts and ideas from
the December TeleGathering
for Highly Sensitive Souls. These comments
were made in response to the inquiry: "What
are the true gifts of your sensitivity?"
We see these gifts in our sensitivity:
Having a Rich Life - we experience life
at a deep emotional level.
Effective Caregiving - we are able to anticipate
others needs and are thus effective caregivers.
Deep Caring - our sensitivity
and depth of emotional experience allows us to care
deeply
about others.
Appreciation - we have a deep sense of gratitude
and appreciation for life and those around us.
Intuition – our intuitive abilities
allow us to pick up on what is true
at a
deeper level. We see what is possible for
ourselves, for others,
and for the planet.
Empathy - we are very aware of others
emotional states, which allows us to make deep emotional
connections
and bonds with others. In times of conflict,
we are able to put ourselves in someone else’s
shoes and work out solutions that serve everyone involved. For

Observant - we
see so much – and there
is so much to notice, to see, to wonder about,
to look at, to ask about.
Creative and Original – we are highly
creative and artistic; we come up with new ideas.
Spiritual – we have a deep, rich and
spiritual experience of life; we lead others
in the search for meaning, wholeness and self-discovery .
Conscientious and Thorough – we do
great work!
High Level of Self-Awareness- our high
level of self awareness enables us to tune into our
bodies' needs at a very detailed level and to practice
extreme self-care.
Highly Conscious Living- because we are
aware of so much, we live in a highly conscious state
of awareness. We are constantly in a state
of growth and exploration.
Processing - we process our experience
on multiple levels and are able to share that experience
with others - deep, wide
and thorough - no stone goes unturned!
Challenges - the unique challenges we face
as Highly Sensitive Souls are actually incredible
opportunities to practice
self-love and self-acceptance.
Other Thoughts
On Saying "No" - saying no is a huge gift
to ourselves and others - we are a model for others when we honor
ourselves in this way, we make space for to have a more optimal
experience for themselves, and we take care of
ourselves. Saying
no to something that isn't right for us makes room for saying
yes to something of quality that is right for us. Saying
no may not be selfish at all!
Our High Level of Awareness Helps Us Choose - because
of our gift of self-awareness, we receive a great deal of information
about what is right for us, or not! When we have the awareness
we can be "at choice."
On Respecting Our Gifts - when we respect our abilities
as the gifts that they are, we make room for others to respect
them also. We honor our gifts by saying no to things
that aren't right for us.
On Acceptance - accepting what we need as legitimate
and necessary (alone time, etc.) is a critical part of accepting
ourselves, and may actually reduce the amount of time out we
actually need for
ourselves.
On Being with Other Sensitive Souls - we see the value
of connecting with this community of Sensitive Souls, and knowing
we are not alone.
