Comments, Thoughts & Ideas
Third TeleGathering
January 15, 2004

Following you will find a summary of participants' comments, thoughts and ideas from the January 2004 TeleGathering for Highly Sensitive Souls.  These comments were made in response to the inquiry:  "How has your sensitivity been of powerful service to yourself or others?"

We had a beautiful, intimate connection of about 10 Sensitive Souls on the call at this TeleGathering. It was a moment I suspect many of us will remember.

Our discussion covered a wide range of topics. A common theme that emerged was our ability to connect deeply with and support others in times of major transitions. In particular, we spoke about the ability we have to connect with the spiritual realm and the dying – and what a powerful experience that can be.

Others talked about the power of our emotional support and deep understanding of others. We also celebrated educating others about sensitivity through our words and thoughtful connections.

Other Thoughts

We have been of powerful service to ourselves or others through/by:

  • Sharing our wisdom and knowledge.
  • Spreading the word about high sensitivity and clueing in others who may be Highly Sensitive – “I can spot them a mile away!”
  • Supporting the dying and ill.
  • Creating beauty and sacred space.
  • Having high self-awareness.
  • Our depth of understanding.
  • Our ability to tune in – others ask us, “How did you know that?”
  • Creating a deep space of listening and support.
  • Our capacity for intimacy.
  • Sharing through language, especially for extroverted HSPs with the “gift of gab.”
  • Being models for emotional authenticity.
  • Our ability to see beauty in pain and struggle – our willingness to keep going forward.
  • Our deep connections to animals and people (and some mentioned having to harden our hearts or turn away to cope with our sensitive response).
  • Creating tremendously healthy workplaces of respect and clarity, particularly when in management roles.
  • Our gift for asking the questions.
  • Being guides and way-showers.
  • “ Listening with a different ear, seeing with a different eye, and feeling with different feelings!”
  • Generating light in the world – we are the fireflies!
